“3 years ago, I had just graduated college and all my friends were getting married one by one. I, on the other hand, was still VERY single. I remember stumbling across @TheWayWeMet on Instagram and reading a bunch of the stories. They gave me hope that anything could happen at any time, any place, and anywhere. I realized I could literally meet someone tomorrow who could change my life forever. Fast forward to January 2017, when I met my now husband at a bar in Nashville. It was my sister-in-laws birthday, so we were there visiting for the weekend from Atlanta. Garret was there because he was stationed in the army near Nashville. I noticed him almost immediately when I walked into the bar. He was tall, had nice arms, and was extremely handsome. However, if it wasn’t for this page, I seriously don’t think I would have ever had the courage to approach him. Our two groups were standing near each other and Garret and I kept catching each other’s eyes. After a few minutes of this, I decided to take matters into my own hands - which if you know me is not normally something I would ever do. I went to the bar, took a shot, and then walked right over to Garret and said, “You’re wearing the wrong shoes for a country bar.” I had just bought brand new cowboy boots that day and Garret was wearing converse. I really just wanted an excuse to talk to him. I also figured I had nothing to lose since I didn’t live in Tennessee and would never have to see him again. We clicked instantly and then our groups combined and we all danced the night away. Turns out garret was the designated driver for his friends that evening (which explains his lack of liquid courage initially). But it worked out well because he offered to give us a ride back to our hotel that night. The next morning, I woke up to a text from him and we continued texting every second for the next week. That very next weekend, he drove 4 hours to come see me in Atlanta. Now we recently got married - two and a half years after meeting. It’s amazing how a little bit of boldness can change your life forever. So the next time you want to say hi to someone, do it! It may end up being the best decision you’ve ever made.”
